The CIE Summer Institute
During the CIE Summer Institute, participants have two major components to their day-- informative and practical sessions and time. We know that you already have some great ideas, but simply just need time with your team of teachers to develop them into a powerful and tangible plan. That's why we make sure that you have both PD session time and plenty of team time, with coach facilitation as needed, to get your good ideas on paper.
The Co-Chairs
Katie and Kate are the dynamic duo that brought you the CIE Summer Institute 2017. Co-chairs again for 2018, they plan to bring their energy and expertise to put on the best CIE Summer Institute we've had so far at Thomas College, integrating the important theme of diversity into the event. Katie Rybakova graduated from Florida State University with her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, and serves as the Executive Director of MAMLE and the co-chair of the Conference on English Education Digital Literacies in Teacher Education at the national level. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Thomas College concentrated in PBE and literacy. Kate Cook graduated with her Ed.D. and is currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Thomas College concentrated in STEAM instruction. Our institute brings together two major components needed in today's teaching environment: energy and time. Spend time with your team facilitated by coaches (exemplary teachers in the state of Maine) and enjoy hands-on workshops throughout the day geared to help you bring STEAM, Digital Learning, and PBE to life in your classrooms-- all through the lens of the diverse needs of our Maine students.
